Obstacle Limitation Surfaces

Safe airport operations demand a permanent monitoring of obstacles at and around airports. It is crucial to keep them in line with the applicable obstacle limitations.

The construction of new infrastructure or changes to airport operations require systematic obstacle evaluations and assessments to maintain an acceptable level of safety

COURSE CONTENT

This 2-day training course provides a comprehensive overview of aerodrome safeguarding and the assessment of obstacles at and in the vicinity of aerodromes.

Your instructor Keith Tonkin has a 30-year aviation industry history including flying F-111 fighter jets and Caribous with the Royal Australian Air Force, followed by a career flying internationally and domestically for Qantas.

Keith has been involved in many airport planning and upgrade studies, and provided operations and management expertise to airports around Australia and the South Pacific. Keith is directly engaged by law firms, government agencies and companies to deliver key evidence in environmental and development planning cases. Keith's firm Aviation Projects in Brisbane, Australia specialises in the safe, secure, efficient and sustainable design and management of airports.

Keith is a professional volunteer for the AviAssist Foundation.
