Focus Sessions – Airport Rescue & Fire Fighting
May 4 | 12:30 am – 1:30 pm CAT
This Focus Session we’ll be talking about realistic Airport Rescue & Firefighting (ARFF) training that can be done with limited resources.
It is realistic and practical training that is of great value to firefighters. This is even more important since municipal volunteer fire fighting forces do not exist in many African countries. It is in those volunteer fire fighting forces that firefighters around the world get their exposure to real fires – after all, airports see very few fires also in Africa. This means for example that practical experience with using the breathing apparatus of often limited – crucial for an airport firefighter. The design of exercises can be organized from theory, to tabletop and to practice.
Join our panel of our Chief Fire instructor Jan Huizing, Leonie Boskeljon-Horst, Stella Mutale from Livingstone Airport in Zambia and Kenbri’s Jos Nijenhuis.
